I cant stand anxiously awaiting a 'fish fry'...(I love that name...FISH FRY)
only to start finding BONES...

Quick end to said fish fry...In fact, I havent had one for years & years, thanks to that bone turn-off...

It also drives me nuts when someone is driving along...going 5-10-15 miles UNDER the speed limit....collecting a caravan of cars behind them, and they are oblivious to it...If drivers want to go slow...FINE...just pull over when you are holding up a dozen other cars...

Omg I have an infinite list of things that more than annoy me. I guess I'll start with...giant trucks and s.u.vs that decide just because they are giant vehicles they can still go 60+ even during a blizzard. It's scary!!!!! It's like...I'm not going 40 because I want to lol.

It annoys me when people call your cell phone and think you are a different person. That has happened to me before and especially when bill collectors call and ask for that person. I almost have to argue with the bill collectors sometimes saying that person doesn't have this number anymore. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else?

LisaT
03-13-2009, 01:54 PM
Perfect example!! lol

I cant stand any sub-par food...once we got chicken wings from a local pizzeria and there was something resembling a FEATHER on a wing!!! Seriously!! lol

That killed appetites fast...I saved it to take back for a few days...finally just threw the dang thing out...

Thats like when someone calls your phone, you say hello, and they say 'who is this?'
UGHHH

I usually say 'who do you want it to be??'

cbeyer
03-13-2009, 01:58 PM
Lisa T-I know what you mean. I almost want to say the same thing. One time I had to argue with the bill collector because they thought the different person was me and I was like no you have the wrong number. I almost went and spoke to their manager.

It also drives me nuts that Dave doesnt answer my burning questions in the 'Ask Dave' thread.................

.......:D lol

Another driving thing is the classic....somebody pulls out in front of you when you are cruising along at 55-60, and proceeds to go 30...even tho there wasnt a car in sight either way.....

UGHHH

I usually say 'who do you want it to be??'

I usually reply, "No. You called me. Who is THIS??"

**Today my pet peeve was someone making a big deal out of me and my kids having Friday Fish. I felt like saying, "Duh, it's Lent!" Why do they care what we have for lunch? We didn't choose the restaurant, (we are happy anywhere), and besides, it's not like they paid for it!! Why can people not show a little more consideration?

Then when we went inside, she offered my kid meat! GRRR!! I was good. I didn't smack this person. ;)

Lemonpoptart
03-13-2009, 03:20 PM
It also annoys me when people put me on the speaker phone...hate that!!!

Ask me first before you embarrass me with speaker phone. I don't like someone just turning it on without warning.... It's humiliating!!

cbeyer
03-13-2009, 03:25 PM
It is humiliating with the speaker phone on that is for sure. I know what you mean. My family had me on speaker phone (parents) and I was like I am going to hang up if you don't get me off speaker phone. They got the picture and got me off speaker phone. It just feels like your family and the next door neighbor can hear you while you are on speaker phone.

It is also annoying when you are at the airport and your plane is delayed. That has happened to me a couple of times.

Lemonpoptart
03-13-2009, 03:29 PM
Cell phones now have speaker phone. And people try to make me use it. In public. And I am not amused by that. At all. LOL

cbeyer
03-13-2009, 03:35 PM
LOL. That has to be annoying...I try to avoid using speaker phone on my cell phone.

Another annoying thing is when you are on the speaker phone and everyone tries to talk to you at once!

Yes, very much.

My family(parents, brother and sister) does that to me sometimes.

I hate it sometimes too when you have two people call at once...have to decide who to talk to. :)

cbeyer
03-13-2009, 06:40 PM
I hate that too. I am usually the first to say goodbye on the phone. Don't want to be the person to talk too much. :) It is also annoying when your cell phone dies during a conversation.

TinkDncr82
03-13-2009, 07:01 PM
Hehe I work in a call center...beleive me people just love to talk to themselves on the phone. I can't even explain how much they repeat themselves and won't let you just do whatever it is they are calling about!!

I have a list of pet peeves related to my profession.

1. When people leave things off their medical history like heart surgery or the fact that they are on pain killers.

2. When people assume that because I'm a woman that I can't do deep work.

3. When people try to assist my during the massage, I promise I'm more than capable of holding an arm up for two minutes. Please don't do it for me! lol

4. When people talk the entire time!

And the biggest one

5. When people try and tell me how to do my job. Its okay to ask for more work on an area but please don't come off the table and try to demonstrate techniques to me. I've been doing this a looooooooooong time and I'm pretty sure I know more than most of my clients! lol

I actually had a client ask me to apply pressure to the spine...I'm a therapist not a chiropracter. lol

Lemonpoptart
03-13-2009, 08:15 PM
I hate it if I'm watching someone's baby, and someone (who knows me well), starts telling me how to care for the baby... This person knows full well that I have two kids of my own, and did in home child care for several years. I didn't just roll off the turnip truck ya know!!

Solicitors is a gimme. I doubt anyone likes them.

One thing that seriously bugs me is disgusting table manners. I don't want to see your food. Don't reach over plates, and make gross noises. GROSS!!

I don't like uncouth people. Loud, gum smacking, obnoxious... oye!

Oh.. LOL... one more. I loathe people who let their kids run wild and act like holy terrors. I raise my kids be polite and use manners, and don't let them destroy and be rude and run wild in stores. My kids aren't perfect, but I never have to worry about how they'll act in public.

Reading over my pet peeves.... LOL I sound like such a snob!! I swear I'm not. :o I am certain that I do plenty of things to annoy people.. but I try very hard not to.. and to be polite and be tactful and well mannered. Southern upbringing I suppose. :p

It is annoying too when you are at an airport and have to catch a plane in like 5 minutes, but yet you have to run one end of the terminal to the next and that takes like 10 minutes. I have had that to me a couple of times...was running through the terminal to catch my plane.

I strongly dislike(I don't like the word hate, lol) it when people talk on their cell phones at the gym. I'll be trying to listen to music on a machine and all I can hear is the lady next to me blabbing away on her cell.

cbeyer
03-15-2009, 10:03 AM
I know what you mean massage therapist. I am at the gym everyday and I hate hearing there phone ring over my music...and my music is pretty loud while I am working out. :) It is pretty annoying...I just wonder why would you want to bring your cell phone to the gym?

I can't stand when your having a conversation with someone and they are constantly interupting you.

totally agree!!

cbeyer
03-17-2009, 05:52 PM
Angelwings-I agree too. I also hate it when they talk on their cell phone and trying to pay for something at the register as well. So annoying. If it were me on the cell phone, I would tell the person I need to call them back.

cbeyer
03-18-2009, 01:19 PM
Angelwings-I hate that too about being on the phone with someone and they have another conversation with someone else in their house. My cell phone died last night during the middle of the conversation-hate when that happens too. I talked to a lot of people last night. :)

Another annoying thing too is when you have to play phone tag with someone and you can never get a hold of them and they can't get a hold of you. I have had that happen a couple of times with people.

This is not a "pet peeve". This is a "rant". So consider yourselves warned. If you'd rather not read it, feel free to skip. Rather than drag this out into multiple posts, I am going to just get it all out. Well.. mostly. Okay.. not all. After all, I'd hate to make anyone run for the hills....

I don't like people who have no regard for others. I don't like people who are bullies, jerks, or know-it-alls. I don't like anyone who has absolutely no consideration for anyone else. I don't respect anyone who cannot respect the fact that I have deadlines to meet, too.

I am a volunteer. I do not get paid for what I do. I loathe the individuals who think that people like me are there simply for them to bully and abuse.

And a few things I have learned. Just because you're a "nice" "chatty" person, doesn't mean you'll do a good job. On the same token, just because you're "no nonsense" doesn't mean you have people skills.

Today was the worst day. I've had it.

:(

You poor, mad, fed up thing!!

What you are ranting about is very valid, LPT....unfortunately there are so so many ignorant people out there in our 'civilized' world who have no idea how to behave, be respectful, be kind...The bad news is, these kinds of people are multiplying...

Be proud that you are the opposite of the very people you cant stand. We all appreciate it!!

Lisa you are so awesome!! Thank you Sweetheart!! (((((hugs)))))

I just got some relief. My "boss" just called, (she is da bomb) and helped me through all this chaos. (paperwork) Instead of freaking about what has not been turned in.... I'm simply supplying her with the names of the guilty. *gigglesnort* I feel sort of mean doing it, but she insists that that's part of my job. Welp, she's the boss! :D I am happy to have this heinous headache off my shoulders.

Lemonpoptart
03-26-2009, 02:08 PM
Big pet peeves of mine>>

Immature "adults" who think they know everything. And never know when to shut up or back down. Man I hate that.

Also not fond of people who perpetually have "poor me" syndrome. How much whining do they think people want to hear? I don't mind listening to anyone's problems... but geez!! The "poor me" crap gets old, fast!!

Lastly... I loathe anyone with a snotty attitude. If you can't be nice... Bugger Off!! I try very hard to be nice to everyone... but if it gets to a point that you just can't be nice any more... you have to resort to completely ignoring them... just to keep from saying something really nasty. And it's not worth it to sink to that.

I hate it when people talk on their cell phones during a movie. One time I was sitting next to this couple in a movie theater and the woman was talking on her cell phone during the movie. A cop was in the movie at the time and he actually had to tell her to be quiet and turn the phone off. I am kind of glad he was there. :) So annoying!!!

Lemonpoptart

99%?? I think that's a tad too high.

I don't like complainers either. If you were referring to my post, I'm not offended, because in this case you're correct. I am pretty freaking annoyed at someone. I apologize for venting so much about it. Believe it or not, I'm quite friendly. LOL

I like most people... unless they are really really loathsome. Liking someone and liking/not liking certain behaviors are different, ya know? I love my kids, but I am not impressed with their behavior sometimes. (for example) I like most everyone here on this board. There are some lovely people here. :)

I'm usually a very tolerant person. I dislike arguments and will avoid them at all costs. A few things do annoy me to no end, however.

1. People who say the following, "I don't like to complain, but..." or "I'm not telling you how to do your job, or run your classroom, but..." I usually look at them and say, "I'm sure you'll try, though!"

2. Whistling! OMG!!! You want to drive me insane? Whistle anything! It grates on my last nerve like you would not believe!!

3. Rude drivers. Don't get behind me and ride my bumper when I'm already doing over the speed limit, trying to get out of your way, and trying to pass a slower car in the right lane. Don't you dare flash your lights, either.

4. People who roll their eyes. Ooooooh! My students do that, and I'm writing a referral for disrespect!

5. Tardiness. I make an effort to be on time. I leave early enough so that if there is traffic, construction, delays, I am still on time. I live an hour away from work. Guess what? I'm there on time each and every day. The people who live closest are always late! I get up at 4:30 each morning so that I have time to do what I need to do. I don't complain to anyone about it, either--I just do what I have to do.

6. Parents who don't care enough about their child to call/email/make an appointment to meet with me during the school year, even after repeated attempts on my part to get them to come in. Yet the minute they get a letter from the school, telling them their little darling is going to fail a grade, all of a sudden, it's MY FAULT, and they don't understand why. I want to ask them, "What planet have you been living on all year?" We have progress reports that go home 4 times a year that must be signed by the parents and brought back, we have report cards that go home 4 times a year that must be signed and brought back, we have a system in place on the internet that allows our parents to view their kid's assignments and grades as they are being posted into our electronic gradebooks, and our school sent letters to the parents of the students who were in academic jeopardy in January. I now have parents telling me they had NO IDEA their little angel was failing!!!!!!!!

7. I don't even want to tell you about what the administration at our school is making us do to appease the parents. It makes my blood boil just thinking about it (and one of the reasons I'm suffering from insomnia, posting here at 2:48AM EST!!!!)

Sorry to rant, folks. I'm really frustrated and scared right now for my job. My boss has been telling us that there are over 400 teachers who are/will be laid off that would love to have our jobs if we don't cooperate. My hubby, who works at the same school, has been getting harassed by admin, and we're really not in a position to leave. Between that stress, the stress of being a teacher, going to school, my son's issues with school and his therapies, I feel like everything is crashing in on me.

There are only 46 more days left of the school year (that's with Spring Break, weekends, and any days off already deducted) and I cannot WAIT for it to end!!!!

cbeyer
03-27-2009, 05:25 AM
motowngirl1967-Sorry to hear about your job. I hope the last 46 days go by fast for you. I do count my blessings every night and thankful I am in a secure job that I can't get laid off. I am grateful for it every night. I hope things will get better for you at work. You can't wait until school year is over with and I just can't wait for a vacation. :) It has been a year that I haven't had a vacation and looking forward to traveling again.

It's ok for you to be in denial about the 99% :D
I didn't think you would be offended because I was just messing with you. :)

Hey... you have to express how you feel if we didn't than that wouldn't be so good.

Well if I don't like someones behavior I won't like to be around them. I never hate anybody and I think that's what you mean, but I will avoid being friends or interaction and it has everything to do with the person and their behavior. I honestly don't like certain people for the very reasons you mentioned but it's a lot different than hating them.

Whoooaaaaa!!!!!!!! Okay...
*slams on brakes and backs up* LOL

JeremyU ~~ Let me just say that thought admittedly I did use the word "hate" but yes you are right that I did not mean it in the literal sense. I honestly, (I totally promise you), I don't "Hate" anyone. I may not like them. I may avoid them. I may think that they have a screw loose. LOL But nah, I won't "hate" them.

I am not a confrontational person. If someone is mean, I just get away from them. If a person habitually upsets me, I will avoid them. I don't like to fight. I don't enjoy disharmony of any kind. I am the type who thinks everyone should play nice and be friends. :) Unfortunately though, not everyone does.

Another pet peeve is while having dinner in a public restaraunt and the people next to you are chewing and talking with their mouth comletely full. Or you look up to see the people next to you shoving a bunch of food in their mouth before they swallow what is already in their mouth.

Adding to that.... some oblivious parents in the restaurant who allow their children to run around unattended, and goober up the salad bar so NO ONE wants to eat anything after they've fingered everything!!

motowngirl1967
03-27-2009, 12:44 PM
I can't stand those "heelie" shoes some kids are still wearing! They are zooming around people, getting in their way, and being pests with those! The parents are oblivious and don't address the issue when the kid plows into someone; the kid looks at you like you ran into them, and the parents say NOTHING!!!

I know what you mean. Then the manager says something to the parents about it. The parents in turn tell the manager "my child didn't do that. It was already like that when we got there."

Unfortunately, I've seen this happen at our local restaurants, especially during tourist season.

Oooh man.. I hate it when people just show up at the front door, unannounced. They always seem to catch me when I'm in the middle of something...

i agree. i can't stand it if someone just stops by without calling first.
i like to have a warning-- that way i can "pull a danny tanner" and clean up my house before they get here. :D

my absolute biggest pet peeve is bad grammar. i can't stand it!!! last weekend at work, i heard someone say "i gots a new truck". i wanted to reach across the bar and smack that guy. :)

once, i actually heard someone say "i clumb the ladder". i couldn't believe it.

I have to agree with that. I am teased a lot for my accent, but I do try and speak like I have an iota of intelligence. To hear people speak like their IQ is a negative number is annoying. I usually just look at them blankly and ask them, "I'm sorry, what did you say?" And then they will respond normally.

Now on that note, I love being silly and goofing around and saying "da bomb" and being a nut. But there's a time and a place for everything!

I guess one of my worse pet peeves is "whiners" :( you know they always threaten do something just so somebody will stop them, or tell them how good they are or how good the look, what a good job their doing ... just do anything to get a complement!

Another one is a KNOW IT ALL! :( ... you say something and they've seen it, been there, read about it, done it, know somebody that did it and was there ... you know the kind of person where you say it's green, and they say it's BLUE green over here ... you say it's cold here and they say we have ICE over here ... the stars are out, well they've been out here for an hour ...

I hate it when people tailgate. I have a bumper sticker on my old bug that says " I may be slow but i'm still in front of you." I'm also tired of people flipping me off.

Last year a a guy threw a full water bottle at my car.. He was driving his little bmw and tried slamming on his breaks in front of me. For ten minutes he kept cutting me off... He followed me off the freeway and followed me everywhere. I drove to a chp station and he took off.

On Christmas I accidentally ran a red light and a guy got out of his car and beat on my windows and cussed me out in front of his kids. I ran another red light.

I have the worst driving record. I've had my California license suspended twice since I was 18.
I have a suspended Arizona license and a suspended North Carolina license.

I have a Utah license that's good.. so I just drive with that.

I don't really drive that bad... Other people just need to watch out.. lol.

It makes me go bananas when ppl are walking SOOOOOOOOOO slow in front of you... or wont let you pass them.
UGH!

Or when ppl smack while eating... or eat with their mouths open.
ORRRRRR *shivers* when they stick a fork into their mouths and pull it out again, when their mouth is still closed and it scratches along their teeth.

YUCK!!!!!!!

I can't stand it when people interupt others. Another thing that annoys me is how people sit there and stare at someone and then look away and whisper about that person when the person they stare at looks at them. As if I were blind. Also I can't stand the fact that some people think using foul language or even x-rated language makes them cool (by the way it doesn't). You can get your point across without foul language.

Omg that is SO true.
In Germany... like waaay in the western part it's HORRIBLE with it. Nothing againt turkey people, but even when they are born here, they have this weird accent and the craziest thing is that even people who don't have turkish parents and speak the language at home start speaking with this accent. which only consists of the german words for "dude, get real, fuck off, fuck you, and blah blah".

ugh SO annoying.

I work in a school, so some of the things I hear the kids say, I'm like "what?!" haha For example, the "new" thing now is saying "I'm tight" when they're mad...I can't stand this! My brother always says it and I always tell him to stop! haha

Jackert86

ew yes them tight sayings. its so dumb, the only "wanna be cool slang" is. so annoying.
around here they always say "atze" instead of buddy or pal... it sounds creepy!
and aw when they say they are so tight, tell them run with scissors to being cut loose or sth! srsly... when I watch tv these days and I see the kids age 12-16 talk, it makes me wanna gag! just hope my kids wont be like that once I have some!

My current pet peeve: that I always go and try and try and be nice to ppl who I'm suppose "friends" with... and we've lost touch and I try to be nice and I'm really sincere and wanna get back in touch and all they do is give one word replies to whatever I say OR they'd say nothing at all, showing that they don't care a BIT. And yet I bother, over and over and over again!!! BLAH! Dumb! I wish i could stop caring about people who actually give a shit about me. ;S

Aw thank you so much! :)
That means a lot. And yea even though I always tried not to love them, or even think: eh, thats so silly what they are doing(not just with me, in their life in general), I cant stop caring/loving them. Probably not as much as before, but a rest will always stay. And yes, at least I can be sure I tried, if they wanted me to be there for them/their friend in general, in the end or not.<3

Excuse me while I channel Bono:  ;)

Love is a temple, Love a higher law

and also:

To touch is to heal, to hurt is to steal
If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel! :)

Bono quoting is over for now. ;) LOL!! But, honestly, love really is the answer. Love can move mountains. No, it's not easy. But its always the answer. ( I just happen to love how Bono expresses it) :D

A pet peeve of mine:

When people order a ton of food through the drive thru and it takes forever for them to order it and have it prepared. It really urkes me when all I'm ordering is one item. There should be a limit on how much you can order in the drive-thru.

Jackert86
12-08-2009, 05:41 AM
I dislike things outta order. I dont have anything against being spontaneous really, yet I don't really like sth thats not planned.

Like lets say a friend says they are coming over at around 1pm on a saturday....
and you wanna sleep out until 10 or 11 and then have a nice breakfast and get ready/dressed etc. and all of a sudden they txt you and say, I'm gonna be there at 11!
EWWWWW not that I wouldnt be happy to see them, but like, ew that totally throws my scedule around and gets me into an annoyed/stressed/not so great mood, especially if I wanted to be in a happy one when I see them! :S
