OK OK we all love the FH theme song...but what other music is in your ipod? Or programmed into your car radio stations? Or in your 8 track? :D

I am a huge Beatles fan...I saw them on Ed Sullivan, grew up with them...think they revolutionized the music world, the fashion world, and the world in general....I still mourn the loss of John and George .....

I also love Led Zep...a lot of pop 40 from the Beatles onward...Admire the Beach Boys, and remember George Harrison giving them credit for 'Pet Sounds'....Lucky Dave got to hang out (and sing!!) with them! I love so much music from the 60s 70s and 80s, I dont know where to begin!

NO rap..no opera..(sorry Beverly Sills), not much disco, other than the SNF music..

Also love a lot of 1 hit Wonders!! Go figure!

What do you love to hear??

I have a crazily eclectic music collection. It has everything from Disney to Rob Zombie to Britney to the Beach Boys to Smashing Pumpkins, to Coldplay to Broadway to Country to Comedy to Foreign to soundtracks, to solo artists...lol tired even listing it. Not a big jazz fan or at least of modern "free form" jazz but some of the classics are good. I like oldies too and of course anything you can dance to. Music for every occasion right? ;)

Elton John was in Brazil in Janury for two great concerts! One of them was broadcasted on TV, since I couldnīt be there live, I watched it on tv. It was really great!!! He played the classics and I had a great time just watching it, I can imagine what people felt there, live in the crowd!

I like many different things... Here some of the bands I love

Scorpions
André Matos (Shaaman, Angra, Solo...etc)
Edguy
Sonata Arctica
Nightwish
Tarja Turunen
Elton john
Bee Gees
Beatles
Malice Mizer
Queen

There are probably many others....I have different phases all the time hehe

Well, U2 will be in Tampa FL in October, and that is where I'll go to see them. It's a long drive, and we'll have to stay the night. But it will SO be worth it! I wish they were coming closer... but at least it will be in my state. They're coming to Atlanta Georgia too... but that's a seven hour drive for me. Guess I'll just stick to Tampa. :)

I'm glad to see that classic rock storytellers are popular with the people on this forum. I have been a Springsteen and Billy Joel fan for many, many years. I saw Billy Joel when I was sixteen and managed to buy a front row scalped ticket in front of Madison Square Garden just before the show. I realize I'm showing my age but I think he only had 2 or 3 albums realeased at that time. Aerosmith is classic and is great in concert. I saw them at an outdoor arena. I am surprised no one mentioned Dave Matthews. My kids and I saw him when we vacationed in Phoenix last summer at an outdoor arena and aside from feeling like you're sitting in an oven in Phoenix, the concert was probably the best I've been to. Also no one mentioned Nickelback, which is good old-fashioned raunchy rock. I've been listening to their latest CD in my car. Good drivin' music. I guess I like my comedy clean but I like my music dirty!

Hey all,

Well one of my favorite bands is Boston, but im usually not limited to a certain genre of music(except rap, dont really like it). I go by the way the song makes me feel. I usually like inspiration beat songs and that could be anything. I listen to the words, but moreso i listen to the beat cause im a percussionist/drummer(not marching band though).

First off Weird Al. He is a god in my eyes. I've been listening to since I was a kid.
I'm into a lot of metal.
Lamb of God
Slipknot
Mudvayne
Marilyn Manson ( the guys weird but, great music )
Hatebreed
Mushroomhead
Rage Against the Machine
System of the Down

Old school rap. I don't like the new stuff out.
E-40
N.W.A.
Cypress Hill

My cousins band User Sets Mode+ They are a great band. Won awards for best Rock Band in Cleveland. If you like Fallout Boy or that kind of music please check them out.

As for my guilty pleasure. I know I love metal. But, it's Blink 182 and for some weird messed up thing in my head. Paris Hilton. I know, I know. Just don't tell my friends HAHAHA!!!!!

Almost forgot my non-metal bands.
Creedence Clearwater Revival. Also gods. Love them.
Michael Jackson. His old stuff is great.
Elvis
The Doors
Alot of the 80's music.

I love certain rap // hip hop. :D Awesome stuff!! Love so much old stuff too... Elvis, the Beatles, the Doors, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd.. a lot of the classic rock stuff. Oh I love Weird Al!!! He's a genius!! :)

One singer I love, who is totally "out of character" for me to be so ga-ga over him and his music... Josh Groban. *swoons*

True story: At my 16th birthday party, my dad was totally trashed and blew out the speakers... listening to none other than Black Sabbath. LOL!!

Take care!

Perfectly expressed!! Music can make your soul sing!!

It's nice that I have folks who share my eclectic taste in music! :)

I have met a few of these artists over the years. Daryl and John were super guys!! Very kind to their fans until recently. Daryl's head is getting big again and that's causing some issues with fans.

Julian Lennon was such a sweetheart! My crazy friends and I followed him around on the last tour (1999's PHOTOGRAPH SMILE tour) and I got to know him and the band well. It also helps when you have an asthma attack on stage singing a well-known song, and Julian doesn't know what to do!!! LOL that was the LAST time he invited a fan to sing with him!! Ha ha ha

Ted Nugent is a great artist, but a very politically-motivated person. He doesn't like to have conversations with fans who disagree with his political views. I am of the opinion that just because you are famous does not mean that you can belittle others who do not share your opinions, nor can you be successful if you use your celebrity and money to do so.

Duran Duran's Simon LeBon was a total princess! He did a gig for a local radio station last year and was a jerk to the radio station DJ, the personnel at the event, and to most of the fans. He was supposed to meet 'n greet with the fans (part of the agreement) and he was "too busy" to meet with them. That was the LAST TIME the station played their music.

My friend, Chris Trapper, used to have a band called The Push Stars. They have been featured on the soundtracks to many movies, including Something About Mary, Gun Shy, Say It Isn't So, and a couple more Farrelly Brothers' movies. He's a great guy and has some really fantastic music! You can check him out at www.christrapper.com, on Facebook, MySpace, and probably Twitter (sorry, I don't tweet!).

I met the guys from Journey in 1986 on their last tour together (Raise On Radio). Really nice, very talented, and super to the fans. I'm sad that Steve Perry can't tour anymore (that, and he and Neil Schon do NOT get along at all) because his voice is the voice of Journey, in my opinion. I got to meet them because the bass player for Glass Tiger (opening band) wanted to meet me and he got me backstage. I talked to him for a short time, but my friend, Susan, had to get home and we had to leave after the show.

Met Bryan Adams in 1987. Wonderful to his fans, often going out before the show to shake hands, sign autographs, get his picture taken, etc. He is short, believe it or not, but has a smoldering look that can make any woman swoon!

I also met the drummer for The Romantics, Jimmy Marinos. Weird guy, I must say. He came into the bookstore that I worked at in 1986. He brought all kinds of industry mags to the counter, then proceeded to ask me if I knew who he was. Of course I did, but I played coy, trying to figure out what his game was. He wanted me to give him the mags for FREE!!! Uh, no way!!! I was an 18 year old kid, but no dummy!!! After a few minutes of trying to lead me into saying who he was, but I would not, he just paid his bill and left. Never saw him again.

Detroit has a load of talent there (you all know that already...he he he!!) and it used to be a great place to meet top talent.

Also, that's not all of my favorite bands/musicians. I have scads more, but I was trying to narrow it down. Honest!!! LOL

Take care!

Wow!! Interesting!! Cool!!!

Ahhhh Julian Lennon....Ive been saying for 20 years that Im afraid I will die without ever having met a Beatle....I still fear that....
With John & George gone, I might have to concede to meeting Julian or Stella McCartney??!!?
My love for the Beatles cannot be properly expressed on a messageboard...

Oh believe me, if i had to list them ALL out... we'd be here a month!! LOL

I have met some of the older entertainers. Some were nice, some... not so much. I remember meeting the Del Vikings. I was maybe 22 at the time, and these gentlemen were all old enough to be my grandfather. They seemed sincerely pleased to have some young girls eagerly asking for their autographs, and while I told them how much I'd enjoyed their show. Wonderful gentlemen, all of them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oSR-lT-PEw

I met Herman's Hermits. (minus one Peter Noone). They were fun and flirty. Autographs, hugs, and laughs all around. They were great fun to meet.

I met Davy Jones of the Monkees. He is about my height, (I'm 5'3"), and has the darkest brown eyes and the loveliest accent you ever heard. He's rather soft spoken, and quite the gentleman. Gives amazing back rubs. ;) His daughter Sarah is sweet and sincere and chatty and happy. One of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Micky Dolenz has got to be the most fun celeb I've met thus far. He is hysterically funny, naughty, very, very bad yet so sweet. LOL I just love Micky. We all had dinner together, and he had me howling with laughter one minute, and turning 15 shades of red the next. He is amazingly charming. Never pass up any chance to meet Micky. You'll just love him!!

Lisa, I'm with you. I own at least one copy of EVERY vinyl album The Beatles ever put out. I remember singing along with the radio to, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," and my favorite song by them, "Hello Goodbye". They are the reason I love music!

Julian is really guarded. I met him because I showed up at the venue he was playing at before he even got there, and I baked him cookies, enclosing a personal letter in the tin. He is a little guy, too (short and skinny), but has a personality and voice that blows me away.

Take care!

I have always figured Micky would be "the naughty one" of the bunch! Davy Jones was one that I swooned over when I was young; I still have a "thing" for boys with that British accent!!! ;) Lucky you!!!

Why is it no one really great comes down to Florida much? I haven't seen too many great concerts or artists since moving down here.

Take care!

LOL I was fortunate, to be sure. David Jones was always my favorite as well...(I thought he was sooooo cute!!)... but Micky is definitely the more outgoing of the two.

Great concerts or artists NOT coming to Florida?? LOL!! Funny you should say that!! Well, prepare yourself... U2 is coming to Tampa in October!!! Squee!! And oh Gurl... I am SO gonna be there!!!

I love the 80s! well, up til maybe '86 or '87...then it started to get too rappy and different..

I remember paying $10 a month for MTV....but man, it was SO worth it...the original VJs...Billy Idol, Duran Duran, Culture Club, MJ...Thomas Dolby...Twisted Sister...lol those were the days....

OMG, I didn't think anyone would remember Twisted Sister. The band started in Long Island, NY, but the drummer during their most popular period was in my graduating class in high school in Staten Island. My son actually likes the band too, when he had to do a 80's lipsink stage presentation he picked Twisted Sister and did a great job at "hamming" it up as the lead singer.

I have had the opportunity to meet Davy Jones. You are so right about him Lemonpoptart. I have met Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dave Matthews.

I remember listening to Technotronic. Pump Up The Jam was the big song for them.

Faith Hill I think I'd enjoy meeting. She seems like she would be nice. Though I'm not a country music fan, I do enjoy some of her songs.

Faith Hill is nice. i almost didn't recognize her. She wasn't really all that dressed up.

*laughs*

Well, initially I'd only seen David Jones when he was on stage. But a year or two later I finally met him. The first time, he was strolling by in a blue warm up suit. LOL How he manages to look elegant in a warm up suit, I'll never know!! :p

He was dressed very impeccably the next couple of times I met him though. :)

This is going to be a great discussion. 80% of my Ipod touch is filled with Dance, Techno, and Trance music, yes I do love clubs. Other than that though, I really like old classic rock like Zeppelin, AC/DC, Peter Frampton, Pink Floyd, etc. Country too is alright, you gotta be in the mood for it though. And of course, there is some Rap I can jam too, but I definitely stick with the Dance! :)

When I think "dance and techno", I think of U2's POP album. "Discotheque!!" I looooooove that song!!

I introduced my teen daughter (who owns 2 guitars), to the music of Frampton about 2 weeks ago. She sat, enraptured, taking it all in. She has a new hero now. :D

Acoustic guitar is awesome!!! electric guitar, however, is better, more vivid and a lot more fun. It's harder to learn though so stick with the acoustic for now, that's what I'm doing :D. When i get sick of doing homework or have a bad day, i chill out with my guitar and it really is a stress reliever.

Scarlet

Several years ago, my husband and I bought an old church piano from a pastor. None of us knew how to play, but my kids begged for it. We still have it. It's in my front room, and every child that visits is allowed to play on it all they want. We still can't play it!! LOL

I started piano playing at age 4...I still have the program from my first recital...almost age 5...

As a teenager I was really good, if I do say so...now I just play when I get the urge...not too often..Prefer Beatles and my old classical masterpieces...some were 12 pages long...cant do THAT anymore..

But on topic...I love everything 80s (and early 70s are really my favorites)..

Scarlet
03-26-2009, 04:22 PM
All this piano talk...you guys need to learn the acoustic guitar so you can play guitar instrumentals I am telling you...but at the very least... somebody learn some instrument...piano...guitar...harp..something! Don't let talent sit there deep inside you..music/arts will bring the best out of you.

Right on!!! I first started to learn how to play keyboard at the age of 10, but soon gave that up cause I was just a kid who didnīt want any discipline hehehe A few years after that I started to wish I could play the guitar...but again, I had issues with the discipline and time went by and Iīm only studying music NOW. But itīs cool, Iīm loving it and I hope to get better soon. So far I can barely play the basic chords hahaha
