View Full Version : What's the song? New game

Hey everyone!

I've played this game successfully on other boards. It's actually quite fun. All you have to do is correctly guess the name of the song that someone posts a line or two from; when you guess it correctly, you can post your song for others to guess.

If there happens to be one that is giving us a hard time (say the post sits for 2 days without a guess, or you have 3 incorrect guesses), we can ask the original poster for more of the song or the name of the singer/band to help jog our memories.

Here's the first one and I've made it easy for you to get started:

"Imagine there's no heaven
See it if you try
No Hell below us
Above us only sky..." :D

After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray

If I'm OK

OK, here's another, folks:

"Its close to midnight and something evils lurking in the dark
Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes,
You're paralyzed" :D

Thriller --- Michael Jackson

This one should be easy:

Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tears
Sing with me, just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Another:

I know the rent is in arrears
The dog has not been fed in years
It's even worse than it appears, but
It's alright
Cows giving kerosene
Kid can't read at seventeen
The words he knows are all obscene, but
It's alright

Touch of Grey by the Grateful Dead! Came out in 1986, I believe. Maybe 87.

Hmmmm...here's one for you all:

"This indecision's bugging me
If you don't want me, set me free
Exactly whom I'm supposed to be
Don't you know which clothes even fit me?
Come on and let me know
Should I cool it or should I blow?" :D

When the garden's flowers, baby, are dead
Yes, and your mind, your mind is so full of red Your eyes,

Yeah but in your head, baby
I'm afraid you don't know where it is

Tears are running, they're all running down your breast
And your friends, baby, they treat you like a pest

Haven't been around much this week...it's been waaaaaaaaaaaay too crazy at home and work!!!

By the Fab Four beatles - "Hello Goodbye"

I hope this one isn't too obscure!

They do it down on camber sands
They do it at Waikiki
Lazing about the beach all day
at night the crickets creepy
squinting faces at the sky

surfers drop their boards and dry

I get stuck alot----it takes me days to figure these out. My husband was much better at naming any song ever written since the late 60's. You are going to think I'm crazy..... but I believe my dear departed husband sends me messages through songs that I hear on the radio. Just some weird coincidences maybe. I've been listening to lyrics more closely in the past year and a half. I guess it's my way of staying in touch! Anyway try this song:

Hop in my CHrysler
It's as big as a whale and it's about to set sail.
It seats about 20,

Yes, I agree...Paula's GREAT at this!!!

"...Everybody Wants To Rule The World" Tears For Fears!!!! OMG!! Another great duo (not as great as Daryl and John, but hey, no one is, in my opinion). I have a couple of their albums (sheesh, I'm dating myself here) and my fave song is "Sowing the Seeds of Love". Songs from the Big Chair is really one of those albums I think everyone who grew up in the 80's should have in their collection. :D

LOVE the B-52's!!!!!!!!! "Rock Lobster" is a classic!!! Good one, Paula

It's funny, every time I think about my best friend, Lisa (she was murdered in October, 2007), I always hear the song on the radio that she loved! It's strange, but I think the same thing, Paula: She's sending me a message of comfort. We were best friends for 27 years and closer than sisters. I'd be willing to bet it's a U2 song. However, I don't know which one because I don't have any of their music *gasp!*. I liked the stuff like "Gloria" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday", but after that, my enthusiasm cooled.

ERIC CLAPTON!!! The hint helped; I was clueless. Was this an early 80's tune? "Pretending" is a great tune from Journeyman. I have to say, though, that I don't like the stuff he put out recently. "Tears in Heaven" was played so much that I lost my taste for the song; so was the remake of "Layla". I like the original much more!

Which song is it, Paula? Good choice! :D

It is "Breaking Point" from the Journeyman album. I was at my breaking point the day I posted it, so it seemed appropriate. Nice Job!

So here's another song I just heard on the radio the other day. The album name is all I've ever called this song.

The lunatic is in my head

Hmmmmm...let me give a hint!

This was done by a single singer. He's actually pretty popular, even in his old age! He's been singing and recording since he was about 22, and now, he's almost 70 (with a birthday this month, as a matter of fact!).

He's one of the richest men in the world...

Good pickup on the McCartney song, Lemonpoptart! He's one of my all-time faves, for obvious reasons.

Here's a song that was popular waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when:

Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone
Say "you are huge", look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

Anyone know this song??

Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed

And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory."

Was Debbie correct?

Debbie's song is another stumper! I'm thinking this is a relatively new band because I don't know the song. Can I get a hint? :D

ok, the only hint that i can think of (which i'm sure could easily give it away) is that the band is named after a park. good luck! :D

It has to be Linkin Park. They are a great band but I can't remember the title to the song. Great lyrics that make you think: Doesn't everybody want to leave behind some reasons to be missed?

Try this one. My daughter burned a cd for me to listen to in my car back in December 2007 with this song. (That's a Clue) Now I listen to this band's entire cd all the time.

I'm falling into memories of you
and things we used to do
Follow me there
a beautiful somewhere
a place that I can share with you
So many nights
legs tangled tight
Wrap me up in a dream with you
close up these eyes
Try not to cry
All that I've got to pull me through
Are memories of you

and the answer to yours.. yellowcard - "one year, six months"

how about this one.. "Tumble outta bed And I stumble to the kitchen, Pour myself a cup of ambition. And yawn and stretch And try to come to life."

Yeah! I know this one...

"9 to 5" by Dolly Parton from 1981. Good movie!

Here's one for you:

"Give me more lovin' than I've ever had
Make it all better when I'm feelin sad
Tell me that I'm special even when I know I'm not
Make me feel good when I hurt so bad
Barely getting mad,
I'm so glad I found you
I love being around you..." :D

1234 - Plain White T's

betcha don't know this one..

Sometimes when all your dreams may have seen better days
When you don't know how or why, but you've lost your way
Have no fear when your tears are fallin'
I will hear your spirit callin'
And I swear that I'll be there come what may

CLUE debbie!! I cant figure this one out!

Heres one:

And now you find yourself in '82
The disco hot spots hold no charm for you
You can concern yourself with bigger things
You catch a pearl and ride the dragon's wings

Heres another 80s song:

Yes I think I'm okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that's what I'll say
And it's not your business anyway
I guess I'd like to be alone
