The #1 best toy I ever owned was the original Creepy Crawlers...I had SO much fun with it...I think it was about 10 bucks way back when, and that was considered kinda steep! :D

The next best thing was when they followed that with the Fright Factory...

Let me bet that every girl on this site had a Barbie, or two, or twenty!
I had some patio furniture, a Ken, a clothes case & clothes, but never had really a ton of Barbie stuff...
My Barbie was old fashioned...kooky looking compared to what came out through the years
LisaT
03-28-2009, 09:04 AM
I loved dolls too...I had one of the first talking dolls from Mattel....In fact, I still have him in the attic! I dont think hes worth much though...doesnt talk, no original little black shorts

Of course I never played with Legos, but my sons and grandsons sure did/do!! We have roughly a billion of them, I think.
Probably Jeremy played with legos too...:D

Yeah, I had an etch a sketch....I wanted it so bad, and tried so hard, but nothing I made ever looked like much of anything. It was so hard to turn both dials to try and make something rounded....ugh...
Of course, I bought them for my kids years later....they are still a pain in the a** LOL
LisaT

Lightbright!!!!!!!!! oh man do I miss light bright. Creepy crawlers too I had when I was little. I ust to try to eat them and would get yelled at by my mom haha. I also had Toby the Terrier. Yea, if no one heard of it, it's a dog that comes with a video and you sit there and he responds to the TV. It was cool haha
Also, I loved my collection of matchbox cars :)
LisaT
03-28-2009, 11:36 AM

I think Etch-A-Sketch got me into drawing and then got me into graphic design in college (was a 2nd major for me while in college). I used to always draw cartoon characters while I was young as well. I took like 5 drawing classes while in college.
Do you remember that game Jenga?
cbeyer
03-28-2009, 11:40 AM
LisaT- Yeah Silly Putty was fun!!! I remember also with the Superballs, having contests with my brother to see who could bounce their ball the highest.

I had several Barbies, the Barbie ski lodge that I had to share with my bratty little sister, the Barbie airplane that my brother used his G.I. Joe to hijack, then destroy, a Marie Osmond doll, one of the first Baby Alive dolls, and Tiffany Taylor doll (she had blond hair on one side, brunette on the other, and you could spin the top of her head around depending on your mood, and change her hair color).
I also have one of the original versions of Trivial Pursuit (Genus 1), although the 1980's version is my favorite.
Remember the board game Trouble? You had the bubble int he middle you had to press down on and pop so that the die inside would roll around and change.
I had a Merlin--one of the original hand-held video games. Tried to figure it out and never could; the only game I could play on it was tic-tac-toe!
We weren't allowed to have Play-Doh in the house, but we played with that stuff for hours on the porch.
My brother had an Evel Knievel doll and motorcycle. He also had a ton of Matchbox cars and tracks. We loved to take apart the tracks and hit each other with them.

Another fun thing that always kicked off the spring months of us was saving our allowance to buy kites and bottles of bubbles. We played outside from sun up 'til sundown with all of that stuff!!

MG--you must have missed this on page 2!!
My favorite game!
Is this your Marie doll??
Yep, that's her! She had the purple and pink skating outfit on when Santa brought her! I gave her to my nieces when they were growing up, along with my case that contained many classic Barbies. I have NO CLUE as to whatever happened to them, but I'm willing to bet they are in my sister's house somewhere, buried in clutter.

My sister bought one for my son. It's green and talks to him; it tells him when to spin, and when to change direction. He loves it because he loves to spin in circles for hours (autism) and he can also use it as a step stool to get on top of things Mom has told him he cannot. ARGH!!!

I had Donnie and Marie Dolls, and played with them too.
Baby Tender Love. (I loved dolls), and Baby That Away
I even had a Chatty Cathy Doll. :)
I loved Trouble, Aggravation, Mouse Trap, Ganip Ganop, Sit N Spin, and my Donald Duck Hippety Hop. LOL One of my favorite games was and IS, Yahtzee! I loved bubbles and kites, and my childhood best friend had an older brother and we used to take his Hot Wheels cars and sit in the cool damp earth behind the hedges near the water spigot and carve out roads to "drive" the matchbox cars on.
We played in the sprinklers until my Dad got us an above ground pool.
Ahhhhh, memories!!

03-29-2009, 11:43 AM

Did you guys play with My Little Pony---Strawberry Shortcakes---Care Bears---
All that stuff came back after the 80s...and theyre making a ton of $$$$ off it!
I had a doll called 'Suzy Smart'....she came with a desk and blackboard...She talked, saying 'I am Suzy Smart...whats your name? I can spell...cat...C-A-T' etc etc
I bet she would be worth a pretty penny if I still had her today!

Kaylee, I did the same thing with the Mouse Trap game! :)
As a mom, my favorite toy of my little one's is her Hippety Hop. This poor kid could never ride a bike (she does not have good motor skills) and can't roller skate, (visually impaired), and so she misses out on a lot of "physical" type toys. Well, I got her a Hippety Hop, and I am telling you guys, she hops on that thing from the time she gets up in the morning until she goes to bed at night. Best $7 I ever spent!! :D

You know I'm in the same boat with Christopher! We're going to Wal-Mart later today and guess what I'm going to pick up for him? Believe me, as an only child, he's spoiled rotten, but he isn't physical at home; his health issues, the heat, and the fact that we have 51 sexual predators within a 4 mile radius of our home makes it impossible for him to go outside. He can use that in the house on the tile and get some of that pent-up energy out! Thanks for the great idea, Susan! :)

He said he had some along time ago but, was sold out. He said he's never had the Joey doll before. Just the uncle jesse and some of the kids.

I used to love watching toy commercials as a kid. I remember the Connect Four commercial when the girl would win and her brother would say, "Pretty Sneaky, Sis". My brother and I would reenact that scene. So funny!

Those commercials take me back in time Lisa. Does anyone remember Klik-Klaks or maybe it was Clic-Claks. It was two large plastic balls - each on a string that were attached to a ring. You had to flip your wrist up and down so that they hit (Clacked) into each other. It usually resulted in multiple black and blues on your arm. I'm surprised they weren't outlawed because we could have knocked each other unconscious with them.

Speaking of frisbees...ever heard of frisbee golf? There are a ton of courses where I live in Ohio and they are all over the US. You have par just like in golf, but instead of a ball you throw the specially made frisbee at a basket that has chains hanging from it. These courses are built within woods at parks. It's quite tricky trying to keep the frisbee out of the woods. Sometimes you lose them in there, so we always carry extra. My brothers and my Dad play the game whenever they get together. There are 9 hole and 18 hole courses. I prefer the 9 :)
